Hello. I am so glad you stopped by to visit. Welcome to our adventure in life. I hope you enjoy looking around and getting to know us better and see what our life is all about.
2019 is going to be a big year for us and I cannot wait to share it with all of you. So much is going on: a new residence card, a new house and yard, new friends and neighbors, a new country lifestyle. What could be a better time to develop a new hobby, hone new skills and start a new website? Sounds great to me. Let’s do this.
Half a lifetime ago, a family member asked me when I was finally going to publish some of my ramblings… uh… articles. Half my lifetime ago! I wish that were an exaggeration, but it isn’t. I have been writing for ages. For over 15 years I wrote most of my teaching materials when I worked teaching language and writing skills. Still, I never published outside of the academic world. Why? I can give 100 reasons but the main one was: I didn’t think I had anything interesting to say.
And so I wrote for myself and a few select friends and family and collected information. I have quite literally boxes of information (14 large storage boxes) stored in our attic waiting for me to have that house and an office and room to pull out all my treasures, dust them off and present them to the world. I am a collector of ideas, a horder of thoughts and snippets of yellowing newspaper articles and tatty old flyers.
Now, I have found something I hope you will find interesting. Let me show you my passions and my life.

American
Kristin grew up in the Pacific Northwest, a true Oregonian. When in college, she moved to Europe to study French for 1 summer semester. Over 20 years later, she is still here.
Five years ago, she and Thomas met and he convinced her to move from her home in Salzburg, Austria to Traunstein in Bavaria, Germany. She promptly gave up her residence permit to move to a new country and start a new adventure with her Schatz. It was the best decision she’s ever made.
Today uses her language skills working as a technical writer and translator in her company.
Thomas
German
Thomas is a true Bavarian. Growing up in Traunstein, Germany. His story is that he met Kristin and rescued her from Austria, bringing her home to the most beautiful region in the world. At least the first and last part of the story are true.
At 15 he started with the volunteer fire department and has continued working as a firefighter ever since.
