Covid-19: Things to celebrate

On the 13th of March Thomas and I were excited to announce and celebrate with family and friends.
Unfortunately, the steps being taken currently are postponing this for a few weeks. There is nothing worse (OK, there is, there really is) than having great news postponed.

At the same time, watching all social media explode with dire warning and admonitions can get rather heavy and depressing. By this time, we know what to do, yet it is being repeated so often that my feeds look like a 3rd grade health class collided with support groups for every issue imaginable.

This is not criticizing people searching for and offering help to others in similar situations: sudden homeschooling parents, unemployment fears and realities, toilet paper search groups (yes, there are those, too)… I do think people creating virtual communities to share is fabulous.

But some posts do make me feel like an unwilling participant in a Covid-19 Anonymous support group.

Starting on Friday, the 13th of March when we found out that our travel plans to visit my family and friends in the USA is threatened with indefinite postponement and/or cancellation AND our other news was being held up, as well, I knew I had to change my focus.

Immediately, my mind flew to the 12 Days of Christmas. I mean, we are being told that it is a recommended 14 days of quarantine. As it develops, this timeline is being extended but yet I submit to you all, to be sung to “The 12 Days of Christmas”:

The (First) 14 Days of C-19 (Quarantine)
Day 8: Friday, 19th March 2020

On the eighth day of C-19
we have to celebrate:

Garden birds are nesting…

Sunshine and the bumblebees…

Bumblebee on periwinkle

a baby for the neighbors…

a brilliant pink magnolia tree…

Magnolia tree

a staircase we can walk up…

Open staircase

walls and ceilings painted…

Wall and ceilings painted

a completely open garden…

Completely Open Garden

and a Rock (that means a diamond ring)…

Engagement Rock
